This page shows all the information you need to attend a Foundation Training Course at the EMDRC club rooms in Burwood.
EMDRC Training & Assessment Location
EMDRC Club Rooms – theory and regulations are held upstairs in the hall, practical assessments are conducted downstairs.
The site is very close to the RSPCA on Burwood Highway if you are taking public transport.
If you are coming by car, there is parking onsite. To get to the clubrooms, drive west down McCubbin Street and look for the lane way on your left-hand side, the clubrooms (ex. Scout Hall) is at the bottom of the lane way.
On Saturday (Foundation Course) arrive at 8:15 am for commencement at 8:30 am sharp - we are usually completed by 4 pm.
On Sunday (assessments) arrive at 8:30 am - assessments are usually completed by 12 pm.

To study for the Foundation Licence, you should have a copy of the following documents (in order of precedence):

- Amateur Radio Operating Procedures (ACMA)

- The Foundation Licence Manual (Third or Fourth Edition)
Assessments are conducted by independent assessors that have been approved by the ACMA
Examination
- Contains 25 multiple choice questions consisting of both theory and regulations
- Allows up to 30 minutes for completion
- You must correctly answer at least 18 out of 25 questions to pass (70%)
- Followed by a practical session of about 30 to 40 minutes
- All sections of the practical must be completed (i.e. 100% to pass)
- Practical requires hands-on activities interacting with the assessor

Pre-Requisites
- Some form of photo identification (passport, drivers licence etc.).
- A copy of the Foundation Manual (optional) – if you don’t have one, you can purchase one on the day for $20.00 (if available). We have some copies that can be loaned out too…
- Notepad and pen(s).
- Calculator – can be used during assessment.
- BYO snacks, drinks and light lunch (or there are shops nearby).
